State claims; surrender of papers to successor

Upon the qualification of the successor of any state attorney, the state attorney going out of office shall deliver to his or her successor a statement of all cases for the collection of money in favor of the state under his or her control and the papers connected with the same, and take his or her receipt for the same, which receipt, when filed with the Department of Financial Services, shall release such state attorney from any further liability to the state upon the claims receipted for; and the state attorney receiving the claims shall be liable in all respects for the same, as provided against state attorneys in s. 17.20.
