Compensation and benefits study; recommendation

The commission shall make a comprehensive study of the compensation and benefits paid to law enforcement officers and correctional officers throughout the state. Among the items to be researched shall be variation in salary scale, education and training of officers, retirement and pension programs, and any other factors on which compensation is based. The commission shall make recommendations to the Legislature for achieving uniformity in compensation for officers with equal or comparable responsibilities, experience, education, and training.
