O.C.G.A. § 40-2-155

Transfers of annual licenses and plates to certain other vehicles upon application, approval, and payment of fees

Known as the Back the Blue Act

Ga

The annual license and plate issued for the operation of a vehicle described in paragraph (3), (9), or (10) of subsection (a) of Code Section 40-2-151, except those named in divisions (a)(3)(A)G), (a)(3)(A)(ii), (a)(3)(A)Gii), (a)(10)(A)G), (a)(10)(A)Gi), and (a)(10)(A)Gii) of Code Section 40-2-151, may be transferred with the approval of the commissioner from a destroyed or retired motor vehicle to another vehicle upon payment of a transfer fee of $5.00 and upon presentation of an appropriate application for transfer. If the substituted vehicle normally calls for a higher-priced plate than the vehicle displaced, a proportionate additional fee shall be paid for the remainder of the taxable year.
