Idaho Code § 54-5819

Disinfection

Known as the Barber and Cosmetology Services Act

(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2) of this section, all instruments used by persons practicing pursuant to this chapter shall, after cleaning and prior to use on each patron, be disinfected with disinfectants registered by the United States environmental protection agency as effective against staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus), human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis B. All disinfectants shall be mixed, changed and used according to the manufacturers’ instructions for disinfection between each patron.

(2) Nail instruments that are intended for single use or that are porous shall be disposed of after each use on a patron.

(3) Every precaution shall be taken by persons practicing pursuant to this chapter to prevent the transfer of disease-causing pathogens between people.
