Local governance; cooperative agreements

Known as the Alternative Learning Opportunities Law

For an alternative learning opportunities program operated jointly or offered under contract, the local governance of the program shall be established by each local school board through a cooperative or intergovernmental agreement with other school districts. Cooperative agreements may be established among regional offices of education, public community colleges, community-based organizations, health and human service agencies, youth service agencies, juvenile court services, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and other non-profit or for-profit education or support service providers as appropriate. Nothing contained in this Section shall prevent a school district, regional office of education, or intermediate service center from forming a cooperative for the purpose of delivering an alternative learning opportunities program.
