20 ILCS 1805/61

Laws 1957, p. 2141.

In case of loss of, or damage to, public property, a survey shall be ordered, under such regulations as may be prescribed by The Adjutant General, to determine the responsibility for such loss or damage, and no officer shall be relieved from either accountability or responsibility for such property except on an approved survey.
