The Division of Internal Investigation shall have jurisdiction and initiate internal Illinois State Police investigations and, at the direction of the Governor, investigate complaints and initiate investigations of official misconduct by State officers and all State employees. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, the Division shall serve as the investigative body for the Illinois State Police for purposes of compliance with the provisions of Sections 12.6 and 12.7 of the Illinois State Police Act.
