Necessity for licensure of dental hygienists

Known as the Illinois Dental Practice Act

The act spans §§ 225-25-1 to 225-25-9 (85 sections).

No person, unless a dentist, shall perform the operative procedures of dental hygiene without first applying for and obtaining a license for such purpose. The Department shall issue a license authorizing practice as a dental hygienist to any person who qualifies for such license pursuant to this Act. In addition to the license authorized by this Section the Department shall deliver to each dental hygienist a separate certificate of identification in a form specified by the Department.
