225 ILCS 605/2.1

Known as the Animal Welfare Act

The Department may cooperate with the Secretary of Agriculture in carrying out Public Law 89-544, entitled, "An Act to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to regulate the transportation, sale, and handling of dogs, cats, and certain other animals intended to be used for purposes of research or experimentation, and for other purposes", and the rules and regulations issued by the Secretary under that Act. The Director may promulgate regulations to facilitate the cooperation, and to avoid any unnecessary duplication or any conflict of activities by the Department and the Secretary in regulating the activities or areas covered by this Act and Public Law 89-544. The regulations may be in addition to other regulations authorized by this Act.
