325 ILCS 45/2

Known as the Minor Identification and Protection Act

For the purposes of this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the terms used herein shall have the following meanings ascribed to them: (a) "Fingerprints" mean the impressions of the lines upon the fingertips taken with ink and placed upon a paper or plastic card for the purpose of identification. (b) "Local law enforcement agency" means the office of the county sheriff or a department of a municipality authorized by law or ordinance with the duties to maintain public order, make arrests, and enforce the criminal laws of this State or municipal ordinances; (c) "Minor" means a person under 18 years of age; and (d) "Parent" means the natural or adoptive parent who has legal custody of the minor.
