620 ILCS 50/40

The term of office of each Superintendent shall be six years and until his successor is duly appointed and qualified

He shall receive a salary in a sum to be fixed by the county board and shall also be allowed actual traveling and other expenses incurred in the discharge of the duties of his office. His salary and expenses shall be payable out of the general or Airport Fund of the county.
