Such claim shall be allowed and paid as other lawful claims against the estate.

Upon the death of a person who is liable for maintenance charges imposed by Section 11-29.1-6 and who is possessed of property, the executor or administrator of his estate shall ascertain from the board of directors the extent of such charges
