In all cases where it is not otherwise provided by the bylaws, the meetings of the stockholders of every cooperative corporation organized or doing business under this act shall be held at the corporation's registered office in this state. The stockholders and directors, however, may hold their meetings and have an office or offices outside of this state or elsewhere in this state if the articles of incorporation or bylaws so provide, and every such cooperative association shall maintain a resident agent who may be either an individual or a corporation, resident of, or located in this state, in charge thereof. Service of any form of legal process on such resident agent shall be sufficient service upon the corporation.
