K.S.A. 19-4436

It shall be the duty of the director and officers to keep and preserve the peace, and, for such purpose such director and officers are hereby vested with the power and authority of peace and police officers in the execution of the duties imposed upon them under the provisions of this act. All powers and duties now or hereafter conferred and imposed upon the sheriff and deputies and constables of any county adopting the provisions of this act are hereby conferred and imposed upon the director and officers appointed under the provisions of this act, and all the powers and duties now or hereafter conferred and imposed upon the city marshal or chief of police and police officers of cities located within such county, including that portion of any such city which is located in an adjacent county, relating to the enforcement of the laws of the state and ordinances of such cities, the authority for the enforcement of which has been transferred to and vested in the county department, are hereby conferred and imposed upon the director and officers appointed under the provisions of this act.
