Required disclosure to patients -- Informed consent

An acupuncturist shall obtain informed consent from each patient in a manner consistent with the acceptable and prevailing standards of practice within this Commonwealth and, at a minimum, the acupuncturist shall disclose to the patient the following written information prior to or during the patient's initial visit:

(1) The acupuncturist's qualifications, including his or her education, license information, and the definition and scope of the practice of acupuncture in the Commonwealth; and (2) Possible outcomes of the treatment to be given, including any pain, bruising, infection, needle sickness, or other side effects that may occur.
