Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 10, § 40

Violations of Secs. 38 and 39; submitting false information; penalties

Whoever violates any provision of sections thirty-eight and thirty-nine the punishment for which is not otherwise provided, and whoever submits false information on any application, report or return required by any provision of said sections, shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment in the house of correction for not more than one year, or both.
