Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 140D, § 36

Exemption from requirements of federal law; action for determination by bureau that commonwealth requirements substantially similar to federal requirements

The commissioner may take any action necessary, including but not limited to promulgating regulations under chapter 30A, to apply for or to preserve a determination by the bureau, or its successor agency, that under the laws of the commonwealth any class of credit transactions within the commonwealth shall be subject to requirements substantially similar to the federal requirements and that there are adequate provisions for enforcement of such requirements.
