Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 247, § 4

The officer shall return such bond with the writ to the court to which the writ is returnable, for the use of the defendant; and he shall include in his return, endorsed on the writ, a certificate of the appointment of the appraisers, of the appraisal and of the expenses thereof.
