Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 30, § 39D

Additional security

Nothing contained in section thirty-nine A shall be construed as limiting the authority of an officer or agent of the commonwealth, or in behalf of any political subdivision thereof, to require other performance or payment bonds whenever required or permitted by law.
