Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 36, § 7

Chief clerk in Worcester district

The register for the Worcester district may, by a writing recorded in his registry, authorize a person employed in said registry to certify or attest, as chief clerk, records or copies of records recorded or filed therein, which authority the register may at pleasure in like manner revoke.
