Beasts taken up by a field driver in a town which adopts this section or has adopted corresponding provisions of earlier laws may be impounded on his own premises; and for the purposes of this chapter he shall be considered a pound keeper, and such place on his premises shall be considered a town pound relative to beasts therein impounded.
