Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 53, § 57

Notices of intention to participate in primaries shall be furnished to the city or town clerk, not later than the thirtieth day prior to the day on which the primaries are to be held, by the city and town committees of such political and municipal parties as are entitled to and desire to participate therein.
