Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 94, § 183

Penalties for violations of Sec. 181

Whoever violates any provision of section one hundred and eighty-one shall for the first offence be punished by a fine of not less than ten nor more than fifty dollars, and for a subsequent offence by a fine of not less than twenty-five nor more than one hundred dollars or shall be subject to a civil citation as provided in section 29A of chapter 98.
