Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 95, § 5

Counterfeiting, altering or defacing marks of measurer

Whoever counterfeits or causes to be counterfeited, or, not being a sworn measurer, alters or defaces with intent to deceive, a measurer's marks on a skin or side or other portion of leather shall be punished by a fine of twenty-five dollars.
