Md. Code Ann., Health-Gen. § 7-701

Known as the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Law

The act spans §§ 7–7 (153 sections).

(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b) “Eligible child” means an individual with developmental disability under the age of 22 years who is:

(1) In an out-of-home placement; or

(2) At immediate risk of out-of-home placement.

(c) (1) “Family” means an eligible child’s natural, adoptive, or foster parents.

(2) “Family” includes:

(i) A guardian;

(ii) A person acting as a parent of a child; or

(iii) A relative or stepparent with whom a child lives.

(d) (1) “Family support services” means a program designed to enable a family to provide for the needs of a child with developmental disability living in the home.

(2) “Family support services” includes:

(i) Individual and family counseling;

(ii) Personal care;

(iii) Day care;

(iv) Specialized equipment;

(v) Health services;

(vi) Respite care;

(vii) Housing adaptations;

(viii) Transportation; and

(ix) Other necessary services.

(e) “Program” means the Family Support Services Program.
