Sec. 1. (1) Upon request by the county board of commissioners, the board of county road commissioners of any county in the upper peninsula with a voted millage for snow removal may remove snow from driveways and roads situated on private property within the county, without cost to the property owner. (2) In any county in the upper peninsula without a voted millage for snow removal, the board of county road commissioners may contract with the owners of private driveways or roads to remove snow from the private driveway or road. The contract shall provide for the reimbursement of the snow removal cost to the board of county road commissioners. (3) The county shall not be liable for damages resulting from the snow removal work. (4) Any snow removal operations conducted on driveways and roads situated on private property before the effective date of this subsection is declared valid.
