Statistical report of deaths; investigation

Sec. 720. (1) The department shall provide an annual statistical report to the members of the house and senate standing committees and appropriations subcommittees with legislative oversight of mental health issues summarizing all deaths and causes of deaths, if known, of mental health care recipients that have been reported to the department, including deaths that occurred within 48 hours after discharge, and all deaths that have occurred in state facilities. (2) In the report described in subsection (1), the department must include information indicating whether or not it has initiated an investigation or is in the process of an investigation as required under section 721 regarding the recipient's death and, if known, the findings of the investigation.
