Responsibility or liability

Sec. 739. (1) This article shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen the responsibility or liability of any party owning, operating, controlling, or installing any electric wiring, device, appliance, or equipment for damages to persons or property caused by any defect in that wiring, device, appliance, or equipment. (2) The state of Michigan shall not be held as assuming any responsibility or liability described in subsection (1) by reason of an inspection or examination authorized under this article, the issuance of a certificate of approval, or the issuance of a license or certificate under this article.
