Mich. Comp. Laws § 38.1206

Sec. 6. A nonclassified employee is entitled to the same types of voluntary payroll deductions as is an employee in the state classified service, and is entitled to join employee groups for benefit purposes, subject to approval by sponsoring authorities or applicable law.
