Mich. Comp. Laws § 4.182

Sec. 2. Any committee of either branch of the legislature visiting any state institution or other place where such visit is authorized by either branch of the legislature, shall be paid only actual and necessary expenses. Such expenses shall be paid in the same manner as other legislative expenses are paid, out of moneys appropriated to the legislature.
