For purposes of this section, the licensing of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants shall take place within processes established by the state board of registration for the healing arts through rules. The board of healing arts is authorized to adopt rules establishing licensing and renewal procedures, supervision of physical therapist assistants, and former licensees who wish to return to the practice of physical therapy, fees, and addressing such other matters as are necessary to protect the public and discipline the profession.
