Anything in any other law of this state to the contrary notwithstanding, every bank and every trust company organized under the laws of this state shall have power to, and may contribute to community funds, or to civic, charitable, philanthropic, or benevolent instrumentalities conducive to public welfare, such sums as the board of directors of the particular bank or trust company may deem expedient and in the interest of the bank or trust company.
