Nature of authority created by agreement

Known as the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act

The act spans §§ 452–452 (157 sections).

Effective: 28 Aug 2024; (L. 2024 S.B. 912)

1. An agreement under sections 452.1214 to 452.1222 is temporary and terminates pursuant to sections 452.1246 to 452.1252 after the deploying parent returns from deployment, unless the agreement has been terminated before that time by court order or modification under section 452.1218. The agreement does not create an independent, continuing right to caretaking authority, decision-making authority, or limited contact in an individual to whom custodial responsibility is given.

2. A nonparent who has caretaking authority, decision-making authority, or limited contact by an agreement under sections 452.1214 to 452.1222 has standing to enforce the agreement until it has been terminated by court order, by modification under section 452.1218, or under sections 452.1246 to 452.1252.
