The fees of the surveyors shall be paid by the counties respectively; and in case either of the surveyors shall fail to attend, the one in attendance may proceed alone to survey and mark the line; in which case he shall make two copies or plats of the line or lines he may run, one whereof he shall return to the county commission of each county, which, being approved of, as aforesaid, shall be recorded in evidence of the line in controversy, and the expenses paid as herein provided.
