Appeals from the final judgment of the court on jury verdicts shall be allowed to any defendant, defendants or the city as in condemnation proceedings by railroad companies, and shall be controlled and governed by the same rules as far as the same may be applicable. But no such appeal shall operate as a supersedeas or delay the right of the city to take possession of the property condemned.
