January fifteenth of every year is hereby designated as "Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day" in Missouri. Founded on January 15, 1908, at the historically black Howard University in Washington, D.C., Alpha Kappa Alpha is the first intercollegiate historically African-American sorority. Citizens of this state are encouraged to participate in appropriate events and activities in recognition of the contributions of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
