February tenth of every year is hereby designated as "Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Day" in Missouri. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Ethel Hedgeman Lyle founded Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first intercollegiate historically African-American sorority. Citizens of this state are encouraged to participate in appropriate events and activities in recognition of the contributions of Ethel Hedgeman Lyle.
