Use of the designation “Certified Professional Geologist.”

Known as the The Registered Professional Geologists Practice Act

The act spans §§ 73–73 (29 sections).

Laws, 1997, ch. 522, § 21, eff from and after July 1, 1997.

The board shall recognize and authorize the use of the designation “Certified Professional Geologist” or “C.P.G.” as used by the American Institute of Professional Geologists, the designation “Certified Petroleum Geologist” or “C.P.G.” as used by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the use of the designation “Certified Geologist” or any similar designation established by a professional geological organization, society or association recognized by the board, subject to the following conditions:

The full name or recognized abbreviation of the organization granting the certification is stated following or in conjunction with the use of the designation or abbreviation; and

The designation or abbreviation is not used in a manner that may mislead the public or create any impression that a person is registered to practice geology unless that person is registered under this chapter.
