If an active or inactive member dies before reaching retirement age, the member's surviving spouse or dependent child must be paid a survivorship benefit that is the actuarial equivalent of the early retirement benefit provided in 19-6-503, in the same manner as provided for in 19-6-505 (2) through (4).
