Mont. Code Ann. § 44-5-401

Provisions for the recording, preservation, dissemination, and management of court records are made by statute and may be supplemented by supreme court rule. Any other criminal justice agency shall protect the security of any criminal justice information system, automated or manual, under its control by taking reasonable precautions and establishing procedures to protect the system and data stored in the system from damage and for the prevention of and recovery from hazards such as fire, flood, power failure, and entry into secure areas by unauthorized persons.
