Mont. Code Ann. § 5-2-216

If there is a tie vote for the purposes of organizing the senate or the house of representatives then, for the purposes of organization, the political party's candidate for president of the senate or speaker of the house then having a member of that candidate's party as the governor of Montana is elected.
