Mont. Code Ann. § 61-8-386

As used in 61-8-387 through 61-8-390, the following definitions apply:

(1) "Emergency lights" means:

(a) for a law enforcement vehicle or an authorized emergency vehicle, visual signals meeting the requirements of 61-9-402; and

(b) for a highway worker vehicle, visible signals of flashing or rotating amber, red, or green lights.

(2) "Highway worker" means an employee of the department of transportation, a local authority, or any other entity authorized to work on a public highway when operating or working within 100 feet of a highway worker vehicle using its emergency lights.

(3) "Highway worker vehicle" means a vehicle authorized to work within a public highway. The term also includes a tow truck, a snow plow, or any other vehicle with additional lighting equipment activated in addition to its original equipment manufacturer lights.

(4) "Siren" means an audible signal meeting the requirements of 61-9-402.
