Mont. Code Ann. § 7-3-1259

Each officer of the municipality shall, before entering upon the duties of office, take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation required of officers by the constitution of the state of Montana, and the oath or affirmation must be filed and kept in the office of the clerk.
