Mont. Code Ann. § 7-6-2406

The county auditor receives the annual compensation provided by law, payable monthly by warrants drawn on the treasury of the county, and may not receive other compensation or emolument for any service rendered or performed, except actual expenses for living and traveling whenever the duties of office require the auditor's presence at any place in the county other than the county seat, and then only after the travel has been ordered and advised by the board of county commissioners.
