Solid waste reduction goal and targets

Known as the Montana Integrated Waste Management Act

The act spans §§ 75–75 (7 sections).

(1) It is the goal of the state to reduce, through source reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting, the amount of solid waste that is generated by households, businesses, and governments and that is either disposed of in landfills or burned in an incinerator, as defined in 75-2-103.

(2) Targets for the rate of recycling and composting are:

(a) 17% of the state's solid waste referenced in subsection (1) by 2008;

(b) 19% of the state's solid waste referenced in subsection (1) by 2011; and

(c) 22% of the state's solid waste referenced in subsection (1) by 2015.
