N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 259:11

"Collateral" or "bond," as used in connection with a traffic citation or arrest, shall mean any cash or other security deposited to secure an appearance for trial following a citation by an arresting officer for violation of a traffic law, ordinance or rule.
