Commencement and defense of certain actions and proceedings

Known as the Independent Administration of Estates Act

The act spans §§ 143–143 (99 sections).

The personal representative who has limited authority or full authority has the power to do all the following:

1. Commence and maintain actions and proceedings for the benefit of the estate.

2. Defend actions and proceedings against the decedent, the personal representative or the estate.
