NRS 293.537

Handling of applications of persons who have cancelled their preregistration or registration; reinstatement of such applications cancelled erroneously; preservation and destruction of such applications

1. The county clerk of each county shall maintain:

(a) A file of the applications to preregister to vote of persons who have cancelled their preregistration; and

(b) A file of the applications to register to vote of electors who have cancelled their registration,

Ê in the database created by the Secretary of State pursuant to NRS 293.675. The files must be kept in alphabetical order. The county clerk shall mark the applications “Cancelled,” and indicate thereon the reason for cancellation.

2. If the county clerk finds that the preregistration of a person was cancelled erroneously, the county clerk shall reinstate the person’s application to preregister to vote.

3. If the county clerk finds that the registration of an elector was cancelled erroneously, the county clerk shall reregister the elector or on election day allow the elector whose registration was erroneously cancelled to vote pursuant to NRS 293.304, 293.525, 293C.295 or 293C.525.

4. The county clerk shall record cancelled applications to preregister or register to vote in the database created by the Secretary of State pursuant to NRS 293.675 and may destroy the originals at any time.
