“Waiting period” means the period established by a plan of health insurance that must pass before a person who is an eligible participant or beneficiary in a plan is covered for benefits under the terms of the plan. The term includes the period from the date a person submits an application to an individual carrier for coverage under a health benefit plan until the first day of coverage under that health benefit plan.
