N.Y. Canal Law § 111

§ 111. Ineligibility to appointment on the canals. No person owning\nany hydraulic works dependent upon the canals for their supply of water,\nor employed in or connected with any such works, or engaged in\ntransporting property upon the canals or owning or otherwise interested\nin boats navigating the canals, shall be employed upon the canals.\n
